The Montana Lake Book

Lakes in Montana provide recreation, drinking water, and habitat to our state’s spectacular fisheries and wildlife resources. They are among our most valued, yet most threatened, natural resource. Even if you live miles from a lake, you live in a watershed and your actions directly affect lake quality. Learn about lakes and how you can help protect clean water. The Montana Lake Book is a collaborative effort by the Flathead Basin Commission; Flathead Conservation District; Flathead Lake Biological Station, Flathead National Forest Service; Montana Department of Environmental Quality; Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. The Flathead Watershed Sourcebook

A Guide to An Extraordinary Place details the geography, cultures, natural history and economics of the Flathead Valley of northwestern Montana from a watershed perspective. It is available for free to educators and citizens. A complimentary Flathead Watershed Sourcebook Educator Guide is a companion middle school curriculum to be used with the Sourcebook.
